Planning permission has been granted to build a 28-bed Premier Travel Inn at the Sandpiper Restaurant, and a hotel with a ground floor restaurant at Le Caprice in Llanelli town centre.

Both applications were given approval by Carmarthenshire Council's planning committee.

The go ahead for the Premier Inn, which is owned by the Whitbread Group, will mean the creation of 12 full-time jobs.

Rory Dickinson, Millennium Coastal Park Manager said: "We are deligted with anything that is going to improve visitor numbers.

"Anything like this will be a boost for the town and I think it is a growing sign of confidence in this area."

Chris Foad, senior project and programme manager at Whitbread Hotels and Restaurant said: "Securing the support of Carmarthenshire Council is an important step in bringing Premier Inn to this part of Llanelli.

"It's a great opportunity for us and we are deligted to be investing in the town."
