Millennium Coastal Path, Carmarthenshire
A spectacular coastal ride around the Burry estuary, the 14-mile Millennium Coastal Path has a Norman castle at one end and the National Wetland Centre Wales at the other, with sand dunes and sculptures, marina and visitor centre in between.
Throw in views of the Gower peninsula and this is a superb day in the saddle — even without the Wetland Centre, bird life here is incredible, the world’s second-highest tidal ebb attracting waders in spectacular numbers.

How to do it: Merlin Cycle Tours at the Millennium Coastal Park Discovery Centre has bike hire from £5 per hour (children £3) or £25/£15 per day; trailers, tagalongs, child seats and tandems available
