
Millennium Coastal Park
The Millennium Coastal Path in Carmarthenshire has been named in the 'UK and Ireland's 12 best cycling routes' in 'The Sunday Times'.
The traffic-free cycle routes were picked as favourites by the newspaper's experts.
The Millennium Cycle Path was the only Welsh cycle route to be selected and came in at 7th place

Millennium Coastal Path, Carmarthenshire
A spectacular coastal ride around the Burry estuary, the 14-mile Millennium Coastal Path has a Norman castle at one end and the National Wetland Centre Wales at the other, with sand dunes and sculptures, marina and visitor centre in between.
Throw in views of the Gower peninsula and this is a superb day in the saddle — even without the Wetland Centre, bird life here is incredible, the world’s second-highest tidal ebb attracting waders in spectacular numbers.
Ideally, bring your own bike, cycle from Kidwelly to Bynea, then get the train back (£4.10), changing in Llanelli. Or hire bikes at the Discovery Centre, four miles east of Kidwelly, from where you could choose to cover either end of the path — both are tempting.
How to do it: Merlin Cycle Tours at the Millennium Coastal Park Discovery Centre has bike hire from £5 per hour (children £3) or £25/£15 per day; trailers, tagalongs, child seats and tandems available
