Passengers arriving at Cardiff Airport from all over the world are now being encouraged to ‘Discover’ and ‘Experience’ attractions and activities in the stunning region of Swansea Bay.
In a collaboration between the Airport and Swansea Bay Futures, two huge illuminated panels, each measuring 4m x 1½m, are located in the baggage reclaim area where each day hundreds of passengers wait to be reunited with their luggage with nothing to do but look around. The perfect opportunity to show travellers the beauty and quality of life on offer across the Swansea Bay region!
“Around two million passengers use Cardiff airport annually and we have some new images of the Swansea Bay region to greet passengers when they arrive. The images were specially selected to entice visitors to travel west to experience the area for themselves” said Fiona Rees, Executive Director at Swansea Bay Futures.
Steve Hodgetts, director of business development at Cardiff Airport commented “We’re pleased to be working with Swansea Bay Futures and helping to create a sense of place for visitors to the airport and Wales, by showcasing the best of the region. The photographs are stunning and will certainly help visitors realise how much Wales and Swansea Bay in particular has to offer.”
The first of the panels focuses on the wide range of activities that can be enjoyed in Swansea Bay, making the most of the fantastic natural environment. The Experience Swansea Bay panel features golf and the stunning view from Pennard Golf Course, overlooking Three Cliffs Bay, top UK mountain biking trails in Afan Forest Park, horse riding along the coastline at Pendine and the joys of simply walking and soaking up the sense of space at Swansea Bay. And as the panel highlights, that’s just a taste of the activities on offer!

There is of course more to ‘Discover’ about the region than its activities and the second panel tempts viewers to find out more with a spectacular image of Llansteffan Castle, set in the countryside overlooking the coast. This is complemented by an image of Rotherslade, highlighting the clean waters of the many beaches and coves to be found in the area, the incredible views and natural beauty of Worm’s Head, Gower and just one of the stunning waterfalls in our inland waterways of the Neath valley.
So when you next return from your travels, waiting for your luggage at Cardiff Airport, pause for a moment to enjoy the beauty of Swansea Bay and discover what you already have on your doorstep!
