Joe Dunthorne whose first novel will soon hit the big screen is line to win £25,000 after being nominated for a prestigious award.
Joe is one of six authors shortlisted for the Sunday Times Short Story Award - out of more than 1,000 entries. His first Novel, the Submarine is currently being develped into a film by Mightyl Boosh and IT Crowd star Richard Adeoye.
The writer was educated at Olchfa Comprehensive School and now lives in Hackney East London, said "I am amazed and really excited to be up for the award. The strory nominated is called 'Critical responses to my last relationship'. The story tells the tale of a music journalist who falls in love with a keyborad player in a band. the story was inspired by Joe's own journey in both his personal and professional life.
He said "the story is only something I could have written after moving to London - which is funny as ever since I moved here I have only written about Swansea".
The awards ceremony takes place at the Sunday Times Oxford Literay Festival on Friday, March 26th
