The DVLA, Corus in Llanelli and Carmarthenshire Council have all been honoured for tacking climate change.
The three were recognised at the Carbon Standards Trust dinner in Cardiff's Hilton hotel, and members were presented with certificates.
They were among seven Welsh organisations awarded at the event. The others were Welsh Water, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, the Hilton Hotel and Nuaire in Caerphilly.
The Carbon Trust Standard recognises that organisations are tackling climate change and have made genuine reductions in their carbon emissions.
The Assembly's director for environment, sustainability and housing, Matthew Quinn, commended the actions taken against climate change.
He said: "It is wonderful that Wales has been so active in tackling climate change which is evident in the awards being received by these organisations. It proves that we can work together and punch above our weight in Wales.
"What we are working for with the Carbon Trust makes sense on every level; financially, for the climate change agenda and our economic future.
"We know in our heart of hearts that this is the right thing to do. Not only will it mean something for your bottom line but you can feel good about it too."
The Carbon Trust Standard is the world's first carbon award scheme that requires an organisation to measure, manage and reduce its carbon footprint and make real reductions year-on-year.
Mike Batt, manager of Carbon Trust Wales, said: "The event was not just an opportunity to engage with organisations to make business sense of climate change, but to recognise those who have made significant efforts to improve their business performance.
"The Carbon Trust Standard provides these organisations with independent confirmation that they are taking genuinely taking action on their carbon footprint.
"Achievement is no mean feat and these organisations have taken large strides in monitoring and reducing their energy usage. This not only reduces their carbon footprint but also cuts the cost of energy bills. In 2008/9 we helped businesses realise over £24 million in energy savings as well as cutting 180,000 tonnes of carbon. The trust is also a recognised early action metric which will benefit organisations participating in the Carbon Reduction Commitment."
