Swansea University launches Graduate Academy

Nineteen graduates from Swansea University are taking part in a fully funded six week work and study experience programme as part of the newly launched Swansea Graduate Academy. Swansea University students

The programme, organised by GO Wales, is designed to help graduates gain practical management skills, increase their level of business awareness and further improve their chances of employability.
The initial 2-week course includes a mix of theoretical and practical sessions around the topics of leadership, management and customer relations and will be followed by a month of work experience geared at their specific areas of interest. The programme will culminate in a 2-day conference on September 16-17 where members of the group will have the chance to discuss their achievements, meet with a Careers Adviser and plan their next steps.

Commenting on the programme, Pauline McDonald, Head of Careers and Employability at Swansea University said: "The Graduate Academy provides a great opportunity for Swansea to fast-track the managers of tomorrow. Combining the management qualification with work experience allows graduates to achieve the right balance of theory and practice.

"The links forged with local employers is one of the strengths of the scheme, and our commitment to this initiative is in line with the University's broader commitment to the region of south west Wales."

Upon completion, participants will be given an Institute of Leadership and Management qualification
