Swansea University has been voted the 2nd best university overall in the 'Student Choice Awards 2011' as chosen by thousands of students.
Swansea University made it into the top ten of no less than six of the nine judgement categories, finishing 2nd in the overall rating, 3rd for accommodation
and 4th for clubs and societies to name a few.
Swansea University’s overall rating was judged by students as superior over the likes of well-respected institutions such as Loughborough University, Durham University, University of Surrey and the University of Aberdeen.
The University came out on top out of the welsh universities, beating rivals Cardiff Univeristy in the overall rating, city life, clubs and societies and accommodation categories.
The awards held annually online, allow students to ‘voice their choice’ providing good indications of the best universities to study at from a perspective that really matters, the students themselves.
The compiled ‘top ten lists’ were based on the ratings given to each university by student reviewers. Thousands of students were asked to review their university experience based on nine key factors that matter most to them, including their Student Union, Accommodation and City Life.
It’s not the first time Swansea University has been recognised as a great place to live and study in. The 2011 Complete University Guide ranked Swansea as the 5th safest place to be a student in the UK (and the 1st in Wales), whilst also winning the inaugural Times Higher Education Supplement Award for the UK's Best Student Experience in 2005.
