Waterfront Winterland will be a feature of Swansea's Christmas until at least 2012.
A planning committee has now approved an application to hold the attraction in the grounds of the National Waterfront Museum for the next five years.
Hundreds of thousands of people have made the most of Waterfront Winterland since it was introduced in 2006.
An all-weather ice-rink and giant ferris wheel will feature in the attractions returning this year from 22 November to 4 January, plus Santa's grotto and a range of fairground rides and stalls.
Frances Jenkins, Swansea Council's Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and Events, said: "Waterfront Winterland has become an integral part of Christmas in Swansea since it was introduced two years ago.
"The combination of an ice-rink, giant wheel and range of rides and festive stalls generates a terrific seasonal atmosphere and ensures there's something for the whole family to enjoy.
"This is great news as it gives us a much better opportunity to plan for the longer term and therefore build on the success to date by striving to improve the visitor experience year on year for visitors.
"Christmas is a great time of the year and attractions such as Waterfront Winterland aim to make the festive season even more memorable."
This year's Christmas Parade has also been confirmed for Sunday 16 November in the city centre.
