Twin Town to be screened in Swansea’s Singleton Park to crowd of up to 8,000

Twin Town is returning to the big screen this summer – and yes, there will be hot dogs for tea as well.

It was twenty years ago when the cult favourite first appeared on our cinema screens, and to mark its two-decade milestone Kevin Allen will once again screen it in Swansea.

The event, which has been organised by Anna Redfern who owns and runs Cinema & Co. in Swansea, was originally expected to be held on a beach. But a Facebook post has revealed that “due to overwhelming popular demand” it will now take place in Singleton Park to a crowd of up to 8,000.

It will be shown on Thursday, August 3, with the exact programming and ticketing details due be announced on Monday, July 17.

Initial reports for the beach event revealed but there would be a Q&A with writer and director Allen, along with appearances by members of the cast, which includes Rhys Ifans and Llyr Ifans playing the Lewis brothers as well as Di Botcher as Jean Lewis.

There will also be a hot dog van, pop up shisha bar from Bubble Lounge, a bar from Gower Brewery, live music from King Goon and, of course, a giant screen so that film fans can enjoy the show.

The film was originally released in 1997, and the long-awaited sequel called Tin Town is currently in production.
