Gower College Swansea

Gower College SwanseaOffers a wide range of academic and vocational courses, from A Levels to pre-university Foundation programmes – to International students. The college’s multiple sites across Swansea allow them to offer great facilities including ceramic studios, TV production and recording studios and darkrooms.

Gower College Swansea came into being on 20th August 2010. It has been formed from the merger of Swansea College and Gorseinon College, bringing together two establishments which demonstrated excellence in their own right, highlighted by the achievements of their students at A level, with 98% of students passing in each and 15 students heading off to Oxbridge universities as a result.

The goal of the college is to create an institution that will provide “outstanding learning opportunities and experiences for young people, adults and employers in Swansea.”

Gower College Swansea is the second largest FE establishment in Wales, with approximately 1,100 staff and 17,000 students. The campus is currently spread over two main sites – at Belgrave Road, Gorseinon and Tycoch Road, Swansea – plus a number of smaller ‘satellite’ centres. However, a brand new flagship campus is planned for Swansea city centre. The college’s multiple sites across Swansea allow them to offer great facilities including ceramic studios, TV production and recording studios and darkrooms.

Apprenticeships are also available, offering work based training and the opportunity to gain essential skills and qualifications without having to study full time. Employees may access existing college courses or programmes can be tailored to meet specific requirements and skills needs.

The college also offers a range of dedicated sports academies from football and rugby to cricket and netball. Selected full time students have the opportunity to join these academies, enabling them to follow their chosen programme of study whilst developing their sporting skills. Gower College Swansea is also affiliated to Welsh Colleges Sports which provides competition for students in additional sports such as volleyball, swimming, golf, tennis, squash, badminton, table tennis and cross-country.
